Microsoft has officially confirmed that Windows 8.1 code named “Windows Blue” would be launched officially across the globe on 18th October. Development was completed at the end of August and since then everyone was waiting for the launch date from Microsoft.

Availability and Pricing

The Current Windows 8 users will be able to upgrade to 8.1 for free via Windows Store. The update will be available to all existing users a day before the official launch.Users running windows 7 can buy and upgrade to Windows 8.1 directly where as Windows Vista, XP and other legacy users need to upgrade to Windows 8 before upgrading to windows 8.1 for a decent file transfer experience during the migration.
