Amar Chitra Katha also known as ACK Comics is one of India’s biggest storytellers which launched way back in 1965. They have been rewriting hundreds of fables, folk tales, biographies and literary classics as comics for the younger generation. With the kids these days getting early into technology, it would make more sense if the company evolved to serve them better. Which is why, ACK Comics has partnered with Ninestars Information Technology Pvt Ltd to release the ACK Comics App for iOS, Android and Windows 8 Tablets where you can read digital versions of the comic books. Also, Ninestar will be contributing towards marketing the app worldwide.
The release of these apps has made access to ACK Comics easier now, more than ever. When you open the app for the first time, you are greeted with the store front where you can buy books. All books usually retail for $0.99. Since we got to try the app the week they released it, we got to download ten books like Ashoka, Akbar and Birbal for free.
You can sign up for an ACK account if you’d like to read the books on other devices(Heavily recommended). Clicking the buy button which is on the bottom of the book would make the purchase and download it for you.
Once the book has been downloaded, you can go to the Shelf to read it. This can also be done offline. Reading the books is also pretty fluid and feels natural. Also, double tapping on a comic strip would take you to the panel view over the page view which makes reading easier.
The only thing missing from the app is the Tinkle Comics which is read by thousands of people across the world and I really do hope they add it in the future updates. We are really pleased with the new app and the way ACK Media is adapting itself for the future.
