Walmart Silently Lists Two New Onn Tablets Powered by Android 10 With a Pro Moniker

Amazon’s Fire range of tablets have been ruling the budget Android tablet segment for a while now since there were no cheap alternatives. Walmart previously launched their Onn series of tablets running a near stock version of Android certified by Google but they have been pretty underwhelming and remained unpopular. Walmart is now back with 2 variants of Onn Tablet Pro – 8″ and 10.1″

Walmart has decided to abandon the previous generation of Onn tablets and instead launch a new series adding “Pro” to the naming scheme because why not?

The 8″ variant comes with a Mediatek 2.0Ghz MT8768WA Octa-Core Processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage. While Walmart hasn’t listed the battery capacity the listing mentions 10 hours battery life which needs to be taken with a grain of salt taking into consideration the poor battery life of the previous generation.

Onn. 10.1″ Tablet Pro – The 10.1″ variant priced at $129

The 10.1″ variant comes with the same Mediatek MT8768WA 2.0 GHz Octa-Core Processor but is coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. The display is a FHD screen which is an upgrade over the HD display on the 8″ variant While Walmart hasn’t listed the battery capacity the listing mentions 10 hours battery life which needs to be taken with a grain of salt taking into consideration the poor battery life of the previous generation.

Both the variants come with the same camera setup – 5 MP front and rear-facing cameras. They include a USB – C slot for charging, Basic speakers, expandable memory slot and a 3.5mm Audio jack which tick off all the basic requirements that you could expect at this price point.
Unlike Amazon’s Fire series they come only in a single color – Gray.

Unsurprisingly they include a host of inbuilt apps which cannot be uninstalled. They include – Walmart App, Walmart Grocery, Vudu, Sam’s Club & Walmart eBooks App. (They can be removed via ADB) and an annoying logo on the navigation bar. It is still tame on comparison with Amazon’s Fire OS which does not resemble stock android by any means.
