Ray-Ban Meta Audio and Gen 3 in plain terms
Ray-Ban Meta Audio is the simpler product to understand. It is closer to a pair of open-ear earbuds built into Ray-Ban frames, with calls, music and hands-free Meta AI. Meta says the glasses weigh 43 grams, support a wide range of optical prescriptions and can run for up to 12 hours on one charge.
Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is the camera-focused option. It has a 12 MP camera, 3K Ultra HD video, a built-in privacy LED, up to nine hours of battery life and a customisable action button for Meta AI. Meta also says Dolby Atmos spatial video capture is coming later this year.
How Meta VR Glasses work
The glasses weigh about 100 grams and use a 5K Infinite Display based on micro-OLED panels, with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. They are still a planned product, not something buyers can order today.
The separate puck carries the Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, storage and battery. Meta says it can deliver up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback and supports 45W fast charging. The system is designed for private cinema, immersive sports and a multi-panel workspace that can turn a flat surface into a keyboard and touchpad. Meta says controllers are not needed for the main experience.
India availability and the privacy questions
The glasses expansion list announced at Connect included Singapore, South Korea, Mexico, the UAE and several other markets, but not India. Local launch timing, pricing, warranty, prescription support, fitting services and authorised repairs were unconfirmed at the event. A grey-market rupee conversion is not an official price.
Meta’s own Muse announcement says the service does not share a person’s conversations or Muse Secure VM data with Meta’s ad systems, and that people can opt out of their interactions being used to train Meta’s AI models. That is Meta’s stated policy, not an independent privacy audit. Meta also says its AI glasses use a capture LED that blinks while photos or videos are being recorded.
