Samsung’s One UI 9 update is now rolling out, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. The Android 17 update also reaches Samsung’s newest foldables, adding camera, AI and device-care features.

Samsung says the rollout will expand to more Galaxy devices over time. Availability can differ by country, carrier and model, so an update not appearing on your phone today does not necessarily mean you have been left out.

What is new in One UI 9?

My FanCam can keep a selected person centred in a video while the scene moves. That could be genuinely handy for school events, sports days and quick family videos where you do not want to edit clips later.

Samsung has also updated Now Brief with more personalised cards and added Now Nudge, which surfaces contextual suggestions. The company is pushing further on privacy and device management too, with Security Brief warnings and simpler device-care tools.

Which Galaxy phones have One UI 9?

Samsung’s official rollout began with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. The company says One UI 9 is already available on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. Other Galaxy phones and tablets will follow in stages.

Do not rely on an unofficial compatibility list alone. Samsung often releases updates by region and carrier, and the final schedule can change if the company finds an issue during rollout.

How to check for the One UI 9 update

How to check for the One UI 9 update.

  1. Open Settings on your Galaxy phone.

  2. Tap Software update.

  3. Select Download and install or Check for updates.

  4. If One UI 9 is available, read the update notes and start the download.

Use Wi-Fi, keep at least a few gigabytes of storage free and charge the phone before you start. A restart is part of the process. If the update is not there, wait a few days before checking again rather than downloading unofficial firmware files.

Should you install One UI 9 immediately?

Most people should install it once it appears, especially because the update includes security and privacy improvements. I would wait a few days only if your phone is essential for work, you rely on a banking or enterprise app with a history of update issues, or you are travelling and cannot afford troubleshooting.

One UI 9 looks most useful for people who use their Galaxy phone’s camera and AI features regularly. If you simply want a more reliable, secure phone, the security and device-care changes are the bigger reason to update.

How do I check for One UI 9?

Open Settings > Software update > Download and install. If no update is offered, wait for the rollout to reach your model and region.

Which Galaxy phones get One UI 9?

The initial rollout covers the Galaxy S26 series and newest Fold8 and Flip8 devices. Other models follow in stages, with timing varying by region and carrier.

Should I install One UI 9 on day one?

Install it when offered unless you need to confirm compatibility with an essential work app or cannot spare time for troubleshooting.
