OpenCode token plugins can answer different questions: how quickly a model is generating, how many tokens a session used, what it may cost, or how close an account is to a provider limit. These tools overlap, but they are not interchangeable.
For live generation speed: OpenCode Token Metrics
OpenCode Token Metrics shows generation speed as a response streams: tokens per second, a recent speed graph, average and peak rate, trend, and time to first token. When the response ends, it displays the token totals reported by the provider.
Disclosure: I made OpenCode Token Metrics. This is not an independent recommendation.

That makes it useful when you are comparing how fast a setup feels or diagnosing a slow response. It is not a spending dashboard or long-term usage history, so pair it with a different tool if that is what you need.
For session usage and cost estimates
Tokenscope focuses on token usage and session cost analysis. OpenCode Token Monitor also tracks token use, estimated costs and usage across sessions. These are the better starting points if your main question is how much a coding session consumed, rather than how fast one answer arrived.
Remember that cost figures from a community tool are estimates unless they are matched against your provider’s actual billing. Model prices can change, and not every provider reports usage in exactly the same way. Check the project notes and your provider dashboard before treating an estimate as an invoice.
For provider limits: OpenCode Quota
OpenCode Quota is aimed at checking provider quotas and remaining usage. That is a different job from counting tokens in the current conversation: it helps you see whether an account is nearing a limit, while Token Metrics watches the speed of the response itself.
Check compatibility before installing
If you need more than one of these views, check that the plugins work with your OpenCode version and do not duplicate each other’s output.
OpenCode’s plugin system supports community extensions, but installation details can differ between projects. Follow the instructions in the repository you choose and the official plugin documentation. Check what permissions and events a plugin uses, and update it from the project’s official source.
