Xiaomi dubbed the “Apple of China” has finally targeted India, and have three of their devices entering the market – The flagship Mi3 , the RedMi 1S and the RedMi Note. Out of which only the Mi3 is available for purchase right now. Their success in China, was due to their excellent product quality at a very affordable price. Also, their skin over stock Android, MIUI – which has a lot of fans.

Xiaomi Mi3 features a 5 inch display, having a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It offers internal storage of 16 GB , with no option for external memory. It has a 2.3 Ghz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and has 2GB RAM. Xiaomi claims the Mi3 is faster than the S4 and the HTC One. Coming to the camera, the rear camera is a 13 Megapixel and the front camera is 2 Megapixel, and features dual flash , f/2.2 aperture and 28mm wide-angle lens. It has dual band WiFi, NFC, runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Mi3 supports 3G and has a host of sensors like compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, proximity sensor, barometer and a temperature sensor. Xiaomi Redmi 1S

The Redmi 1S is Xiaomi’s entry-level model priced at ₹ 6,999. It has a 4.7 inch 720p IPS display. It is powered by a 1.3 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with a 1GB RAM. Coming to storage , it’ll be having an internal storage of 16GB , and a micro SD card slot which supports cards unto 64GB. It runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer on top. The rear camera is 8 Megapixel and the front camera is 1.6 Megapixel.

The Redmi Note is a large 5.5 inch phablet with a 720p IPS display.The Redmi Note is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor and 1.7GB RAM. Some other specs include 8GB onboard storage, microSD card slot up to 32GB, 3MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter for selfies and 3100mAh battery. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer on top. The Redmi note is priced at ₹ 9,999. The Redmi 1s and the Redmi would be made available on Flipkart starting from next month. Xiaomi announced earlier they would be launching MIUI v6 based on KitKat 4.4.4, which we expect would be made available for the Redmi Note and the 1s which currently lack an update to Kitkat. The update would be available on August 16th.

It’s no doubt that Xiaomi will make an impact in the Indian market with these smartphoes. Mi3 was apparently sold out in the first hour sales started on Flipkart, but whether the Xiaomi phones have got what it takes to compete with the other Android run phones like Samsung, Sony and HTC, is what we have to wait and watch.
