If OpenCode’s default colours do not suit you, you can switch to a built-in palette or install a community theme.
Disclosure: I made Midnight Madras. The other options here are community projects, each with its own way to build, browse or install a palette.
Midnight Madras: a warm Chennai-inspired palette
Midnight Madras takes its cues from Chennai after dark: a near-black burgundy base, chili-red accents, turmeric yellow strings and cardamom-green diffs. It is for people who want a dark theme with warmer colours than the usual blue-grey terminal palette. The repository reports that its 28 tested critical colour pairs meet WCAG AA contrast; that is the project’s own reported check, not an independent audit by Techzei.

More OpenCode theme projects to explore
OpenCode Theme Studio is not a theme pack. It is a browser-based editor for creating one. You can preview changes, tune dark and light variants, adjust individual tokens, import a theme, and export a file or install command. If you know the colours you want but do not want to edit a long JSON file by hand, start here.
Eldritch for OpenCode offers several fantasy-inspired variants, from the Cthulhu default to a darker Abyss and a light Dusk palette. The repository includes screenshots and instructions for installing the JSON files. For a larger bundle of palettes, opencode-theme-zzh collects options inspired by Ubuntu, Fedora, China and other visual styles. Check the repository’s current instructions before installing; community projects can change their file paths and setup steps.
How to install an OpenCode theme
For a manual install, place the theme JSON file in ~/.config/opencode/themes/ for your account, or .opencode/themes/ inside a project. Then open the command palette with Ctrl+P, choose Open settings, and select Theme. Some projects also offer an install command, so follow the current README for that specific theme.
If the colours look washed out, check that your terminal supports 24-bit truecolour. A theme file can define a careful palette, but a terminal limited to fewer colours cannot show every shade as intended. OpenCode’s documentation explains the theme locations, configuration and colour formats.
Try the theme in code, markdown, errors and diffs, not just the home screen. Syntax colours that look great in a screenshot may be hard to read in a real session. Pick the one that stays comfortable after an hour, not just the one with the flashiest palette.
