Huawei is a company which will ring a bell to anyone because they’ve existed for a long time and has been a pioneer in communication. Honor Holly 2 is a budget phone from Huawei. Huawei has constantly been evolving, and they’ve been making a few premium phones too. But the biggest hit for Huawei was when they partnered with Google last year to make the Nexus 6p. In some countries like India where they sell their entry level smartphones, they sell it under the name Honor. The Honor Holly 2  is the second most expensive phone in that lineup.

Build

The Honor Holly 2 Plus has a fantastic finish for its price. It has a shiny metallic finish which is smudge free and does not pick up any fingerprints. It has a textured back cover which gave a very nice firm grip. The quality of the materials used on the phone is not bad considering the price of the phone.

The right side of the phone has the Power Key and the Volume Rocker. The 3.5 mm jack is placed on the top, and the bottom has the external speaker and the mic and the Micro-USB port for charging and data transfer.
On the rear of the Honor Holly 2 Plus has the 13 Megapixel Camera with an LED Flash and a secondary mic for noise cancellation on top of the camera module. The back panel is removable, but the 4000mAh Li-Po Battery is not user removable.
It has two SIM cards slots and a MicroSD card slot for memory expansion in case the 16GB internal memory is not sufficient. The good part about this phone is that it supports both GSM and CDMA. We didn’t have a CDMA SIM to test the phone on a CDMA network but had no issues with the GSM SIM.
On the front, there is a 5″inch  720p display which amounts to 220ppi and offers great viewing angles.

Camera

As far as the camera is concerned, the Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus has a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel on the front for selfies.  The rear camera takes brilliant photos but under some lighting conditions the colors seem to be washed out, and some pictures come out sharp. If you wanted to change the saturation and contrast settings, you’d have to go two clicks in which is a letdown, but it does have an amazing camera when it comes to its price.

Software

Emotion UI is being used on the Honor Holly 2 Plus. It’s super simple and runs on top of Android Lollipop Huawei has promised the Android Marshmallow update for the phone. There are very minimal bloatware apps installed on the phone. The only issue I had with the EMUI is that some app icons had a weird green background on them if they were transparent images. Most of the pre-installed apps can be removed, though. The phone also has pre-installed duplicate apps like contacts and calendar which cannot be uninstalled. But it does have the stock apps too letting you choose the one you want.

Battery

My previous Android Phone was the Redmi 2 which had a pretty good battery with my usage. However, the battery backup on the Honor Holly 2 Plus is not bad thanks to it’s 4000 mAh battery. The phone lasted more than a day with my usage which has Data and Bluetooth on most of the time. On Wi-Fi, the phone seems to last forever. EMUI has a pretty awesome featured called the Ultra Power Saving mode which turns your phone into a basic phone. When I put the phone on the Ultra Saving Mode, I got enough charge to make calls, texts for an other hour. Battery life is exceptional for a budget phone.

Conclusion

The Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus is priced at Rs. 8,000 and is available in three colors Gold,White and Grey. For a budget phone this phone has almost all the features .

Regarding features, the 4000Mah battery gives this phone an amazing 2 days of charge. It does everything a smartphone has to do, flawlessly for a smooth and reliable experience.
