iPhone Duo supports Dual SIM through two active eSIMs. There is no physical SIM slot on the Indian model or any other regional version.
Apple’s new foldable supports Dual eSIM, which means two eSIM plans can stay active at the same time. You could use a personal Jio number alongside an Airtel work number, for example, without carrying a second phone.

Does iPhone Duo support Dual SIM?
Yes. iPhone Duo supports two active eSIMs at the same time and can store eight or more eSIM profiles.
That gives you the usual Dual SIM flexibility: two phone numbers, two carrier plans and the ability to choose which line handles calls, messages and mobile data.
For mobile data, you select one line as the primary data connection. You can change it whenever you need to in Settings.
There is no physical SIM slot
This is the big difference between iPhone Duo and most recent iPhones sold in India.
Many iPhones let you use a nano-SIM and an eSIM together. iPhone Duo does not. It only works with eSIM plans.
Apple’s technical specifications confirm the eSIM-only design. If you are moving from a phone with a physical SIM, arrange an eSIM transfer with your carrier.

Can you use Jio and Airtel together?
In principle, yes, as long as both of your plans support eSIM activation.
- A Jio personal number and an Airtel work number
- An Indian number and an overseas travel eSIM
- Two Indian numbers from the same carrier or different carriers
Before moving to iPhone Duo, check your carrier’s eSIM activation process. If your current number is on a physical SIM, it needs to be converted to an eSIM first.
I would wait until the new eSIM is fully active on the iPhone Duo before wiping your old phone.
Can you keep more than two plans?
Yes. You can save eight or more eSIM profiles on the phone, though only two can be active at one time.
That is useful for travel. You can keep your regular Indian plans, add a travel eSIM for another country and switch plans from Settings when needed.
Should the lack of a physical SIM worry you?
For most people, no. If your carrier supports eSIM properly, the experience is straightforward and actually cleaner than swapping a tiny SIM card.
The only extra step is setting up or transferring your eSIM before you need the phone. If you rely on a corporate number, an older plan or a carrier account managed by someone else, check the process before buying.
Yes. Two eSIM lines can be active at once, with one selected for mobile data.
Yes. All regional versions lack a physical SIM slot.
Yes, if both plans support eSIM activation. Complete the transfers before wiping your old phone.
You can store eight or more profiles, but only two can be active at once.
