OriginOS 7 starts reaching vivo and iQOO phones in India at the end of October 2026, beginning with the vivo X300 series, the vivo X Fold5 and the iQOO 15. From there the update works its way down each lineup, and the last phones on the list, including the vivo Y400 series, vivo T4x 5G and iQOO Z10x 5G, are due at the end of February 2027.
vivo India published its schedule on 7 October and iQOO India followed on 10 October. Both give a month or half-month window rather than a fixed date, and both say the plan does not cover carrier-exclusive models, which will get their own timing. Like Samsung’s One UI 9 and OPPO’s ColorOS 17, OriginOS 7 is built on Android 17.
OriginOS 7 India rollout for vivo phones
vivo’s list covers 40 phones across the X, V, S, T and Y series. The X Fold5 and the newest X flagships go first, and older V and T models wait until early 2027.

The V series is split across three months. A V70 owner should see the update around mid December, a V50 owner at the end of December, and anyone still on a V40 or V30 has to wait until January or February. Most of the T series lands at the end of January, with only the T4x 5G pushed to February.
OriginOS 7 rollout dates for iQOO phones
iQOO’s schedule is shorter, with 13 phones across its Number, Neo and Z series. The iQOO 15 is the only phone in the first wave, which fits, since iQOO opened its OriginOS 7 preview programme in India to iQOO 15 owners in September.

If your phone is not in either table, neither brand has promised it OriginOS 7 in this round. Newer launches skip the wait: the vivo V80 runs OriginOS 7 out of the box.
What OriginOS 7 changes on your phone
vivo announced OriginOS 7 for India on 6 October. Most of its pitch is about multitasking and AI tools rather than a new look, although there is a fresh design layer too.
- Origin Workbench: run up to five apps at once, resize the main window and switch between horizontal and vertical layouts. vivo’s fine print limits it to specific models with 12GB of RAM or more.
- AI Cross-App Drag: drag text or an image from one app into another app’s input box, then pick an action such as translation, text extraction or creating a contact.
- Snap and Go: take a screenshot of a flight booking or movie ticket and Origin Island offers to add it to your calendar.
- Jovi: vivo calls it an AI agent. It can find files, summarise documents and run scheduled tasks, and with vivo Office Kit it also works between your phone and a PC.
- AI Call Answering and Call Overview: the phone can answer a call you cannot take, then leave a written summary in the call log.
- AI Recorder and Snap Note: transcripts with speaker labels and summary templates for meetings, lectures and interviews, plus photos of whiteboards or handwritten notes turned into editable documents.
- Security Shield: one place for warnings about unknown apps, unsafe links, spam calls, risky Wi-Fi and suspicious USB connections.
The Workbench rule is the one most likely to catch people out. Many mid-range phones are sold with 8GB of RAM, and on those the headline multitasking feature may simply not show up after the update. vivo has not published a feature list for each model, so the 12GB cutoff is the clearest guide for now.
The same caution applies to the AI features. vivo’s disclaimers say Jovi, call answering, AI Search and the recorder depend on device, region and language, and the India announcement does not say which Indian languages call answering or transcription will support.
Apple Watch, AirPods and iCloud support
One less obvious change is cross-ecosystem support. vivo India says OriginOS 7 supports Apple Watch, AirPods and iCloud experiences on compatible devices and in supported regions. Shake and Share sends large batches of photos to several people, including people on other brands, without using mobile data. If your household mixes an Android phone with Apple accessories, this could be more useful day to day than any of the AI tools, but vivo has not yet said exactly which Apple features work in India.
How to get OriginOS 7 when your turn comes
Updates go out in batches, so two people with the same model can get OriginOS 7 a few days or weeks apart within the same window. When your window opens, check the System update page in Settings. Before installing a major Android version, back up your chats and photos, keep the battery well charged and download over Wi-Fi.
If nothing has arrived by the end of your window, give it a little longer. These are planned windows rather than fixed dates, and vivo’s own support replies on X say exact availability may vary.
My take
vivo and iQOO deserve credit for publishing a model-by-model schedule for India, which OnePlus has not yet done for ColorOS 17. The catch is the gap between the first wave and the last: a T series buyer waits three to four months longer than an X300 owner, and an 8GB phone may miss Origin Workbench altogether. If you are choosing between the best phones this Diwali and multitasking matters to you, a 12GB vivo or iQOO variant is the safer pick for getting the full OriginOS 7 experience.
