Xiaomi has scheduled the Redmi 17C 5G India launch for 1 October 2026 at 12:00 PM IST. That announcement did not include the price or final memory options. Confirmed specs point to a battery-focused budget phone: a 6,000mAh battery and 120Hz screen, but HD+ resolution on a 6.9-inch panel. The final price will decide whether that trade-off makes sense.
Redmi 17C 5G launch date and availability
The launch announcement did not include a final retail listing. You can check Amazon India for the Redmi 17C 5G after listings appear, but confirm the seller, variant and final price before ordering.
Redmi 17C 5G price in India
| Model | Configuration | India price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Redmi 17C 5G | TBA | TBA | Not announced |
The announcement did not include India pricing or final RAM and storage options. Prices from other regions are not a substitute for an India MRP. The phone will need to undercut FHD+ AMOLED alternatives to make the lower-resolution screen a fair trade.
Redmi 17C 5G confirmed specifications
| Specification | Detail |
|---|---|
| Display | 6.9-inch HD+ LCD with up to 120Hz refresh rate |
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 6300 |
| Battery | 6,000mAh |
| Charging | Up to 33W |
| Rear camera | 50MP AI dual camera |
| Front camera | 8MP |
| Protection | IP64 and Wet Touch |
| Software | Xiaomi HyperOS |
| Colours | Dark Night, Coffee Brew and Purple Dawn |
On a 6.9-inch screen, HD+ resolution means text and fine detail will not look as sharp as on an FHD+ panel. It may be fine for casual browsing and video, but people who read a lot may notice the difference.
Battery, performance and cameras
The 6,000mAh battery is the clearest reason to consider it. The Dimensity 6300 is aimed at everyday apps, streaming and 5G browsing, not demanding games. The announcement did not confirm RAM and storage options, which will also affect how well the base model holds up over time.
Xiaomi lists a 50MP dual rear camera, but that resolution does not establish its image quality. Check sample photos before choosing it over a camera-focused phone.
Design and colours
The Redmi 17C 5G will be available in Dark Night, Coffee Brew and Purple Dawn. Coffee Brew has a vegan leather-style finish, while the other colours use a more conventional rear treatment. The rear camera sits inside Xiaomi’s Astral Deco-style square module.
Who should buy the Redmi 17C 5G?
| Buyer | My take |
|---|---|
| Needs long battery life and 5G on a tight budget | Worth watching if the India price is aggressive. |
| Reads a lot or wants a sharp display | Look for an FHD+ phone, even if it costs a little more. |
| Plays demanding games | Choose a phone with more RAM and a stronger sustained-performance record. |
| Wants expandable storage or a headphone jack | Check the final India specification sheet before buying. |
Check Xiaomi’s official listing for the India price and base configuration. If you mainly want long battery life and 5G, and the price sits well below sharper FHD+ alternatives, the Redmi 17C 5G could make sense. If it gets too close to phones with a better screen, look elsewhere.
Where will the Redmi 17C 5G be sold?
Amazon India, mi.com and Xiaomi retail channels are the expected sales channels.
