OnePlus has opened a ColorOS 17 beta in India for the OnePlus 15R. It is a test build, not the stable update, and the company has not named the other Indian models that might qualify. Eligible owners will be able to choose whether to switch from OxygenOS after ColorOS 17’s official release.
Switching between OxygenOS and ColorOS
OnePlus says owners of eligible phones can switch to ColorOS 17 and later return to OxygenOS. It has not yet named which Indian models will be eligible or explained which software versions will support the rollback.
For phones outside the ColorOS 17 upgrade list, OnePlus says it will continue software maintenance under each model’s existing support terms.
What ColorOS 17 brings

OPPO introduced ColorOS 17 at its 2026 developer conference in Zhuhai. Its announcement describes a refreshed interface, a more capable on-device AI model and new safety features. OPPO’s announcement lists OnePlus and realme among the brands in the first upgrade batch. However, it does not say which India models qualify.
China’s rollout is not India’s update date
Chinese-market OnePlus phones use ColorOS, while Indian models run OxygenOS. However, OnePlus has not published an update schedule for Indian phones. As a result, a China rollout date does not tell owners when the Indian variant will get the update.
Where India stands

At the moment, the India beta is available only for the OnePlus 15R. Its application window runs from October 9 to 12, 2026. OnePlus warns that the preview build may be unstable, can miss planned features and may cause compatibility issues with some third-party apps.
Even so, the beta is separate from the stable update. OnePlus still has not confirmed when the final build will reach India or which other phones will be eligible.
Meanwhile, OPPO’s official event page lists a ColorOS 17 launch for October 13 at 14:30 IST. It lists the Find X10 series launch separately for October 21. Neither date tells OnePlus owners when their update will arrive.
What the switch means for OnePlus owners
Testers can use the beta to check the things that affect daily use: whether notifications arrive on time, battery life holds up and banking or messaging apps work as expected. Since OnePlus warns that the preview may be unstable, owners who rely on their phone should wait for the stable India release. Back up your data before installing beta software.

FAQ

OnePlus has not announced a stable India release date or named the other eligible models. The October 13 ColorOS event is OPPO’s launch event, not a OnePlus India rollout date.
