What if someone asked you to go around the world? You would take your iPhone out, book a few flights and you can do that in less than a week. Now, imagine it is 1872! So you don’t have your iPhone or the internet or even long distance flights. Get ready to go on horses and blimps which might crash into the ocean!

Playing as Phileas Fogg’s loyal valet, Passepartout, you must balance your master’s health, your finances, and the time, as you choose your own path from city to city all the way around the world in less than 80 days.

80 days might seem like a long time, but every action in the game has consequences and unforeseeable events. You start the game in London, helping Fogg to go around the world. We were scheduled to make it work in less than 60-70 days, but then there is the unforeseeable event due to my carelessness. I ignored the warning of a disease outbreak in Thailand. The result : Fogg got sick and almost died. Our journey came to a halt for 20 days and I reached London only in the 93rd day losing the bet. Of course we did not give up. We went on another journey around the world. A whole lot of different cities and different people. This time, we reached London in the 68th day and won the bet!

The whole game revolves around the story and the choices you make. There are 144 cities to explore along the way. You can take the shortest way with little exploration or the longest, getting to know new people along the way. You have to remember the smallest details as it might be useful in the future.

There is not a lot to the app except the essentials. The music is also fun and keeps you glued to the game. It is one of those games where you want to play it for a few minutes but end up playing till your battery dies.

The app costs $5. Now, that’s a cheap price to pay for exploring 144 different countries in 1872. Click here to download the app.
