Apple has named the first wave of iPhone Duo apps built for its foldable screen, and many are apps people in India already use daily: Netflix, Prime Video, Instagram, Edits, Zoom, Slack and Asphalt Legends. iPhone Duo launched in India on 23 October 2026, and the App Store now marks these apps with a “Made for iPhone Duo” badge. iPhone Duo also brings Split View to iPhone for the first time, so you can run two apps side by side on the inner display.
Some apps already make good use of the larger screen, while Microsoft Word, Outlook and a few games are still waiting for updates. At a starting price of ₹2,99,900, that distinction matters.
How apps work on iPhone Duo
iPhone Duo has an outer display and an inner display that is 50 percent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max screen. Both displays share the same aspect ratio, so Apple says apps move from the outer screen to the inner one and scale proportionally, letting you pick up where you left off. Optimised apps go further. They change their layout depending on how you hold the phone: fully open, closed, or partially folded and propped on a table like a tiny laptop. To find them, look for the Made for iPhone Duo badge on App Store product pages. Apple’s new editorial collections of iPhone Duo apps and games went live on the App Store on 23 October, with more app updates rolling out through the year.

Split View comes to iPhone
Split View has been an iPad feature for years. On iPhone Duo, it lets you open two apps side by side on an iPhone for the first time. Apple’s examples include Fantastical next to your inbox with Cardhop for contact details, and KakaoPage using Split View for a book-like reading layout. For work, Slack or Zoom can sit alongside another app instead of making you switch back and forth.
Games and performance
Apple says the A20 Pro chip and a custom vapor chamber give iPhone Duo up to 35 percent better sustained performance than iPhone 17 Pro, which matters most in long gaming sessions. Asphalt Legends lets you race more than 350 cars against up to seven online opponents on the inner display. Zenless Zone Zero gets its iPhone Duo update in November 2026, and Azra Games’ UnGodly launches in November. On Apple Arcade, Sneaky Sasquatch and Retrocade are already optimised.
What about Indian apps?
Apple named apps from several other regions, but no India-specific app in its launch roundup. India was among the first markets to get iPhone Duo on 23 October.
That does not mean Indian apps will look broken. Apple says apps built with its standard SwiftUI and UIKit components adapt automatically to each display, moving controls within reach, expanding into multiple columns on the inner display and moving buttons away from the fold. Richer layouts, like content split across the fold or apps that react to the hinge angle, need developers to adopt Apple’s new iOS 27.1 APIs. Apple says developers can submit optimised apps to the App Store now.
