Zenfone 2 Selfie is a very unique device target towards a very specific set of audience. Initially, I chose not to review it because it was just a bit different from the other ZenFones. But I was wrong, really wrong. The amount of interest people had towards the device had me rethinking and I gave it another shot. This time with a different perspective. Turns out, the small differences were big enough! If you’re reading this review, you probably would’ve guessed it by now, the phone is for selfies.
Starting with the design, ZenFone 2 Selfie comes with a smooth and flush finish with solid colour options like Gold, Red, Silver, White and Pink. Like every other phone in the ZenFone lineup, it comes with the same button placement. The volume rocker is behind the phone, under the camera sensor and power button on the top.
Asus ZenFone 2 Selfie comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Processor, 2/3 GB RAM, 16/32GB storage and expandable upto 64GB using the Micro SD slot. All you have to know is that most of the smartphones these days perform very well with everyday usage and so does this phone. It comes with a 3,000 mAh battery which easily lasts one whole day with moderate usage.
Coming to the camera, it comes with a 13MP back camera with Dual-Tone Flash. It is the same camera like the one on Zenfone 2 Deluxe. The biggest feature of this phone is it’s front camera. It is a 13MP camera withDual-Tone Flash. No other phone out there comes with this monstrous feature.
I do not take a lot of selfies. So I failed to understand the importance of this product initially. Therefore, whenever someone was curious about the device during my review period, I let them borrow it. They were really impressed and were looking forward to get one.
The problem with front camera on other devices is that the resolution is very low, resulting in grainy shots if the light is not perfect. The iPhone 6s tries to combat this by turning the whole screen into a flash. But it is nowhere close to an actual flash like the one on this device. The device blows out the competition with the dual tone flash for low light selfies.
This phone is all about one particular feature: The front camera. People really like taking selfies. If you’re one of them, this device is a no-brainer.
