We don’t use a lot of Pen Drives these days. Most of our data is on the cloud. But there are times when I have to realise that I live in India! You don’t always get access to reliable internet. For this reason, I always carry a couple of pen drives with me where I carry large files and other important data. Last week, Kingston Datatraveller Mini 3.0 arrived at my desk and I decided to take it for a spin.
For my testing, I had the 128GB version which uses USB 3.0. Kingston claims the read speed to be 70MB/s and write speed to be 15MB/s. Although, with Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, I got 80MB/s read speed and 45MB/s write! The real world usage though while copying files is close to what Kingston claims it to be. The actual accessible storage on the 128GB drive is 125.86GB.
Coming to the design part of this USB drive, it is made of metal and is really light. It just feels great in my hand and is the size of an average pen drive. It also has a keyring on one end which really helps for people who keep loosing their pendrive.
DataTraveller Mini comes in four different colours depending on the storage. 16GB version comes in Ruby, 32GB in Tortoise, 64GB in Graphite and 128GB in Emerald. The cost is 1300, 2000, 2800 and 4000 for 16, 32, 64, 128GB versions. It sure is a steep price to pay. But the price you pay for quality and performance which makes it totally worth the price. No complaints here!
