iOS 27.2 is now available for the iPhone 11 and later. The update gives Siri AI a memory of your past conversations, adds one-tap Suggestions in Messages and expands Siri AI to five more languages. Apple also lists security fixes, so the update matters beyond the new AI features.
Apple released iOS 27.2 on 26 October alongside iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS and visionOS 27.2. If you are staying on iOS 26 for now, iOS 26.7.2 arrived the same day with security fixes.
Siri AI remembers past conversations
The biggest change in iOS 27.2 is for Siri AI, which works on all iPhone 16 models and later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. Siri can now recall earlier conversations, so you can ask about something it told you before, such as the restaurants it suggested last week. Apple says Siri can use useful context from earlier interactions.
Siri AI also draws on more of your personal context in this release:
- Photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees and your voicemails.
- Better results from your Safari history and Reading List.
- A new Excluded Apps setting that lets you choose, in one place, which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access.
- Granular text selection, so you can copy just part of a Siri answer.
Excluded Apps is the setting I would check first. Siri AI becomes more useful as it reads more of your data, so it is worth deciding which apps you would rather keep it out of, such as banking or work chat.
Siri AI languages: what changes and what it means in India
Siri AI, which is still labelled beta, now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish as well as English. Apple says Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese will follow by the end of the year. Apple says Siri AI remains unavailable in the EU on iPhone and to users under 13.
Hindi and other Indian languages are not on either list, so in India Siri AI remains an English-only feature. Suggestions in Messages and Shared Albums
Suggestions in Messages arrives in iOS 27.2. When a chat mentions plans, Messages offers one-tap actions, such as adding a dinner to Calendar or creating a reminder, without you leaving the conversation.
Shared Albums in Photos get three practical fixes. You can now edit captions and comments, Photos helps you avoid adding duplicate shots, and an album can remind everyone before an album expires so they can save what they want to keep.
Other changes worth knowing
- AI image labels: iOS 27.2 adds support for SynthID watermarking to help identify images generated or modified with generative tools in Photos and Image Playground.
- FaceTime: you can add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call.
- Podcasts and Games: Podcasts separates New Episodes from Continue Playing, while Games adds more context to friend suggestions and recently played games.
