Apple HomeView in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey

Apple HomeView starts at ₹39,900 in India. Pre-orders are open, with sales beginning on November 13. It pairs a 7-inch display with Siri AI, FaceTime and Apple Home controls. Siri AI will work in English in India from launch, but personal requests need a compatible Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad.

We have not used HomeView yet, so this first look is based on Apple’s published specifications and India store listing.

The tabletop model comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mounted version comes in silver and space grey. Both displays cost the same, but the wall model needs a separate mount and power solution. The self-install USB-C mount is ₹6,900, taking the listed starting cost to ₹46,800 before a compatible 20W-or-higher power adapter, sold separately. Apple currently marks the AC and PoE mounts as unavailable to order in India.

At ₹39,900, HomeView is a substantial buy for a screen that mainly makes sense in an Apple household. Its value depends on whether you will use the Home app, FaceTime and Siri AI from a shared spot, not just on the display itself.

What HomeView does, and what changes between models

Think of the tabletop model as a HomePod with a tilting screen. Its 7-inch Liquid Retina display is nearly square, with brightness ranging from 500 nits down to 0.3 nits for a dim bedroom. It has an A18 chip, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and four microphones. The tabletop speaker base adds two full-range drivers, a down-firing woofer and two passive radiators. The wall-mounted version has two full-range drivers, so the audio hardware is not identical.

HomeView can recognise household members and show each person a more personal screen. Apple says up to six household members can be enrolled. Messages and other personal information require a paired, compatible iPhone or iPad; Apple’s setup information also calls for the device to be on the same Wi-Fi network and recently unlocked. Shared home controls remain available to the household.

The A18’s Secure Exclaves are designed to process camera and microphone data in an isolated area, according to Apple. That is Apple’s stated privacy design, not something we have independently tested.

Siri AI on Apple HomeView in India

Siri AI will be available in English in India at launch. Apple says its broader knowledge and conversation features work on HomeView, while requests that draw on personal context, such as information from Calendar or Messages, need a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. HomeView also requires an iPhone running iOS 27.2 or later, or an iPad with iPadOS 27.2 or later. Some Siri AI features have usage limits; our Apple Intelligence daily limits explainer explains what that means.

Customisable expressive Siri voices are not listed for India at launch. Apple currently lists them for the US, Australia, Canada and the UK. If you are setting up Siri AI on an iPhone, our Siri AI setup guide for India walks through the steps.

Will Apple HomeView work with your smart home?

HomeView works as a home hub for compatible accessories in Apple’s Home app, including supported HomeKit and Matter devices. That does not mean every Wi-Fi plug or bulb will work with it, so check for the Works with Apple Home or Matter label before buying. Apple also lists smoke- and carbon-monoxide-alarm sound recognition, and some HomeKit Secure Video features need a compatible camera and an eligible iCloud+ plan. Our iCloud+ plans in India guide explains the storage tiers.

HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is not currently available in iOS there, Apple says. For India, the more practical question is whether your existing accessories use Apple Home or Matter, and whether you want a shared screen in the kitchen or living room.

Should you buy Apple HomeView?

HomeView is aimed at households already using iPhones and compatible smart-home accessories. It brings FaceTime, a screen for shared home controls and Siri AI into one place, but ₹39,900 is hard to justify if you mainly want a speaker or clock. We would wait for the November 13 launch and independent reviews before buying, especially to see how well face recognition and Siri AI work in a real, busy home.
