Its been quite some time since Samsung started developing its own operating system which is open source. The growth of Android and Samsung has been mutual over the years but Samsung was in works for a replacement due to its over dependencies and also other legal issues arising out of using Android. Recently, the Galaxy Gear 2 was updated over the air to Tizen OS.

The newly announced device, the Samsung Z is undoubtedly a powerful phone on the specification sheet.

Over all the phone looks promising and with Samsung drifting away from Android it would be interesting to watch which Operating System outdoes the other. Only time will tell if Tizen will make it to the top of the smartphone OS race.

The Samsung Z will be on show at the Tizen Developer Conference, San Francisco from June 3. It will be available commercially from Quarter 3 this year starting in Russia and then expanding to other countries.
