GTA 6 preload starts on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, nine days before launch. On PS5 it opens at midnight local time, which is 12:00 am IST in India. On Xbox Series X|S it opens at the same moment everywhere: 12:00 am GMT, or 5:30 am IST on November 10. How to pre-load GTA 6 on PS5
On the console
- Buy or redeem GTA 6 on PS Store with the account you play on (avatar > Redeem Code for code-in-box copies).
- Open Game Library > Your Collection, select GTAVI, select the countdown timer and tick the checkbox to enable auto-download.
- In Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode, turn on Stay Connected to the Internet, then put the PS5 in rest mode, not off.
- After midnight on November 10, check the countdown timer to confirm the download has started.
From your phone (PS App)
- On the PS5, also turn on Enable Turning On PS5 from Network and leave it in rest mode.
- In the PlayStation App, sign in with the same account, open Game Library, find Grand Theft Auto VI and select Download to Console.
How to pre-install GTA 6 on Xbox Series X|S
On the console
- Buy GTA 6 in the Microsoft Store, or redeem your code under Store > Redeem.
- From 5:30 am IST on November 10, go to My games & apps > Full library > All owned games and select Install to the internal SSD or a Storage Expansion Card.
- Set Settings > General > Power options to Sleep so it keeps downloading overnight.
From your phone (Xbox app)
- On the console, turn on Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features > Enable remote features.
- In the Xbox app, signed in with the same Microsoft account, find the game and choose Install to your console.
For the GTA+ bonus month on Xbox, buy by 11:59 pm on November 18 and redeem within 180 days.
How much storage GTA 6 needs
Plan for the full 212 GB on any console, plus a launch-day patch of unannounced size. PS5 owners can add a PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD with a heatsink, and Xbox owners need the internal SSD or a Storage Expansion Card, since USB drives cannot run the game. If you need more space, look for an M.2 NVMe SSD with a heatsink for PS5 that meets Sony’s specifications, or a Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S.
