Jio AI glasses have not been confirmed for UPI scan-and-pay as a JioFrames feature. Its product page lists voice AI, translation, a camera, live streaming, calls and music, but no payment function or sale date. NPCI does allow UPI payments through linked IoT devices, including smart glasses; Jio has not said whether its glasses will use that system.

The JioFrames page currently lets you register your interest. That is not a preorder, and Jio has not posted an official price or launch date.

What NPCI’s UPI Circle rules allow

NPCI has extended UPI Circle to IoT devices and software profiles, specifically naming smart glasses among the possible devices. The account holder links a device through its app, verifies the phone number by OTP, then approves the link and sets a spending limit in their primary UPI app. NPCI’s framework says a payment must be started by an explicit user action.

NPCI IoT payment ruleLimit or requirement
Per transactionUp to ₹5,000 per device
MonthlyUp to ₹15,000 per device
First 24 hours after linkingUp to ₹2,000
Linked IoT devices or software profilesUp to five
Set-upOTP verification, consent and authentication in the primary UPI app

These are NPCI’s framework limits, not Jio-specific payment limits. They also do not confirm that JioFrames supports UPI Circle. The ₹2,000 limit applies during the first 24 hours after a device is linked; it is not a waiting period before payments can begin.

Jio has not published enough detail about payment approval, supported UPI apps or phone requirements to judge how practical this would be.

What Jio officially lists for JioFrames

Jio describes JioFrames as camera-equipped AI glasses with a voice assistant. Its product page lists hands-free photos, HD video and live streaming, calls and music, real-time language translation, help with reading and learning, reminders and a health coach. Jio says the glasses are designed for Indian languages, but it has not published a final language list or detailed specifications on the page.

The mix could be useful if you want quick voice help without taking out your phone, especially for translation or capturing a moment. But battery life, prescription options, phone compatibility and price still need confirmation. When will Jio AI glasses launch in India?

Jio has not announced an on-sale date or price on its official JioFrames page. You can register your interest there, but the form does not reserve a unit or lock in a price. Jio’s page is the place to check for confirmed availability as it adds details.
