Gemini in Chrome is now available to Android users in India, but Auto Browse is not part of the free rollout. Google’s India announcement says the multi-step browsing agent is available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers on desktop and Android. It can handle tasks across websites, but you still need to supervise it, especially when money or personal information is involved.
Gemini in Chrome India: what is available
The regular Gemini in Chrome assistant can answer questions about the page you have open, summarise a long read and work with Google apps such as Keep and Calendar. Google is making this Android feature available to all users in India. It also supports image creation and editing with Nano Banana.
Auto Browse is the more ambitious part. You can ask it to compare products, research a trip, book a restaurant or work through a long form. Chrome can visit the sites involved and carry out steps for you, rather than just suggest what to do next. Google’s India examples include finding parking for an event, filling out a form and ordering groceries. The Android assistant starts in US English and UK English; Auto Browse currently works on devices set to English.

Who can use Auto Browse in India?
Google lists AI Pro and AI Ultra as the eligible plans for Auto Browse in India. On Android, you must be at least 18, use the latest Chrome, opt in to Gemini in Chrome and sign in with a personal Google Account. A work or school account needs admin approval. Your device must be set to English, Auto Browse does not work in Incognito, and the feature is still rolling out.
There is a small documentation mismatch for desktop users: Google’s India announcement includes desktop, but its computer Help page still lists the US in the availability requirements. The Android Help page lists India. If Auto Browse is missing from desktop Chrome, check the model and account requirements and allow for the gradual rollout.
Google has not announced a separate India price for Auto Browse. It is included with eligible AI Pro and AI Ultra plans, so check Google’s current India plan page before subscribing just for this feature. Ultra has a much higher usage allowance, but most people should first decide whether they will use an agent in Chrome often enough to justify a paid plan.
What happens when you give it a task?
Open Ask Gemini in Chrome, describe the job and review the plan before the agent starts. Auto Browse may visit several websites and share information with them to complete the task. You can switch to its active tab, take over, resume or stop it. On Android, you can leave Chrome and return when the task finishes or needs your attention.

With permission, Gemini can use Google Password Manager and Sign in with Google to log in to websites. Google says your passwords are not shared with Gemini or those sites, and you can revoke that permission in Chrome settings. Even so, only use this for accounts and tasks you are comfortable letting the agent handle.
Daily limits and safety checks
Chrome Help lists a daily cap of 20 multi-step requests for AI Pro and 200 for AI Ultra. There are also limits on how many tasks can run at once. If you reach a limit, Chrome will tell you.
Google says Auto Browse is designed to pause for confirmation before certain sensitive actions, such as finalising a financial transaction, accepting terms or creating an account. It also says the system is experimental. Safeguards cannot catch every malicious instruction on a webpage or every mistake, and Google puts responsibility for the agent’s actions on you.

Keep an eye on the task if it involves a purchase, a personal account or private information. Check the site and details before confirming anything. If you already use Gemini Guided Vision on Android, Auto Browse is a different kind of feature: Guided Vision explains what your camera sees, while Auto Browse can take actions on websites.
Is Auto Browse worth using in India?
If you already pay for AI Pro or Ultra and often repeat browser chores, Auto Browse could save time. The regular Gemini assistant on Android is the more accessible change because Google says it is rolling out to all Android users in India. Auto Browse requires a paid plan and is experimental. I would try it on a low-risk task first, then decide whether it belongs in anything more important.
