Jolla has finally decided to enter India with it’s smartphone running the SailFish OS. Entry into the Indian Market by the Finnish Smartphone maker whose roots come from Nokia is exciting as with lot of International manufacturers entering India notably Xiaomi.
Sailfish OS is based on MeeGo(previous generation Nokia software), merproject and nemomobile open source projects. The software has been designed to run Sailfish OS apps and Android apps out of the box which is a great advantage because Android has the 90% market share. The support for Android apps allows for a smooth transition from an old phone without any issues.
Sailfish is a gesture based system with no navigations buttons on the phone, all actions are done by swipes and taps on the touchscreen to navigate the phone.
