Nothing’s 6GB + 128GB listings put the Phone (4a) at ₹39,999 and Phone (4b) at ₹35,999 in our 29 September 2026 check. Both were marked Coming Soon, so these are listed prices, not phones ready to ship. If you’re deciding whether to wait, the choice is between paying less for 6GB or spending more for 8GB and more headroom for apps running together.

Why the new 6GB variants matter

These are the same phones with less memory, not cut-down camera or display versions. Nothing’s listed chipsets, screens, cameras and batteries stay the same; the saving comes from dropping RAM from 8GB to 6GB.

If you are also upgrading a desktop, our RAM buy-or-wait guide looks at the same cost-versus-capacity question.

Specs that did not change: Phone 4a vs 4b

Phone (4a) Phone (4b)

Chipset Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Snapdragon 6 Gen 4
Battery / charge 5400mAh, 50W 6000mAh, 33W

On both phones, the 6GB variants keep that hardware. You are not buying a cut-down camera or a dimmer panel just because the RAM row says 6.

Which Nothing Phone 4a or 4b version makes sense?

For messaging, social apps and video, 6GB should be enough. If you switch between many apps, play games or keep a phone for several years, I’d pay extra for 8GB when the gap is only ₹4,000 to ₹5,000.

  • Phone (4a): Choose it for the periscope camera, brighter 1.5K screen and faster charging.
  • Phone (4b): Choose it if battery capacity and the lower price matter more.
  • 6GB vs 8GB: Consider 6GB for lighter use once those listings are in stock; choose 8GB for more breathing room.

In our check, the 6GB listings were still marked Coming Soon. If you need a phone now, the buyable 8GB models were the available options. If you can wait, compare the final price gap when the 6GB variants arrive instead of counting on a festival discount.

If you are also buying or upgrading a desktop, our RAM guide looks at the same cost-versus-capacity question.
