GoPro is the undisputed king when it comes to making Action Cameras, having additional batteries for your action camera is more or less the norm. We got our hands on Wasabi Power’s 2-Pack replacement batteries along with their triple charger.
They cost half the price but are they worth it? Read on to find out!
What You Get
The box is simple and you get 2 batteries, the triple charger, micro usb cable and a bunch of papers. The batteries are nicely packed in small individual boxes as seen in the pictures below. You also get a card for 2 years warranty.
Battery Compatibility
The batteries itself are very similar to the original GoPro ones in terms of size and weight, they have the same capacity and are NOT extended ones with higher capacity. We tried them on two different GoPro firmwares and there were no errors or compatibility errors. The GoPro itself reports that it is compatible.
Capacity & Usage
Nobody wants to have an unreliable battery while on an adventure so we put the Wasabi Power batteries through several rounds of testing to see if they fail but they came out just fine. The Battery has a capacity of 1730mAh rated at 3.85V, 6.7Wh. For comparison, The capacity of the official GoPro battery is 1720mAh which is very similar.
We recorded multiple time lapses with them and they averaged the same as the original GoPro batteries. The batteries fit in well and cause no issues while closing it with the battery cover. Installing and removing it also had no issues.
The Triple Charger
You also get the triple charger base as a part of the order, interestingly it comes with a micro USB cable which is a bummer until you realize the charger has both USB C and Micro USB ports. The Cable that comes with the GoPro works just fine with it. You can charge 3 batteries at the same time using the triple charger.

Should I Buy ?
The simple answer would be YES. We tried on multiple occasions to make sure it was reliable and we did not face any issues so far. We took it on a Kayaking trip, rafting and on a zip line. The batteries take a while to charge when you charge 3 of them together and last 5% less than the original GoPro batteries on an average. Other than that, they fit well and are highly reliable but we always recommend taking them for a test run before your actual trip!
They go for $30 on Amazon and are backed by Wasabi’s 3 year warranty as per the amazon listing, we recommend purchasing it on Amazon over here for easy returns in case you are not satisfied.
