It comes as a surprise that Epic Games revealed details about a new Unreal Tournament. The new Unreal tournament will be developed with the Unreal Engine 4 developer community, Unreal Tournament veterans and fans. The development for the next title will begin immediately, fans with Unreal Engine 4 subscription can participate in the crowdsourced game development. It will proceed with active participation of the community making the decisions keeping the core gaming model the same from previous titles. The game will be a free game, not free to play or anything.

The previous Unreal Tournament game titles have always had very high reviews. Unreal Tournament 1999 was the GotY (Game of the Year) in the following year and played in the WCG (World Cyber Games) during its initial fanfare. Over the years with several iterations and various mods for the game series, resulted in a large fan base wanting more.

Although at this year’s GDC(Game Developers Conference), Epic’s Tim Sweeney  had denied any existence of a new unreal tournament which makes the announcement of Unreal Tournament a big surprise to everyone!

If you’ve ever played the game like me, you’ll definitely be excited to hear the game will be true to its roots as a competitive FPS and will be available for all the major platforms – Windows, Mac and Linux.

The wait for game begins, however, the previous game titles are available in Steam. If you’re interested in contributing to the Unreal community – check the Unreal Tournament forums.
