Claude Docs, Slides and Design are now out of beta and available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Anthropic announced the change on 8 October. The free plan can make documents, slide decks and visual designs, but usage still counts toward its normal limits. Dashboards and Motion are separate beta features with narrower plan access.
That makes Claude easier to try for a college presentation, a client brief or a quick mock-up without paying first. It does not mean every Claude feature is now free, or that the Free plan has unlimited use.
What Claude Docs, Slides and Design can make
- Docs creates editable rich-text documents with headings, tables and sections. You can export a doc to Word, PDF, Markdown or Google Docs.
- Slides turns notes, files or a conversation into an editable presentation. Export it to PowerPoint or PDF, or send it to Google Slides as an editable deck.
- Design makes visual layouts, mock-ups, prototypes and one-page sites. Designs can be exported as a ZIP, PDF, PowerPoint or standalone HTML.

You can start from a template in the Artifacts tab or ask for a document, deck or design in a chat. Claude can work from files you upload. The result remains editable, so you can ask for changes or make them yourself instead of treating the first draft as final.
What is free, and what still needs a paid plan?
| Claude feature | Free plan | Where else it is available |
|---|---|---|
| Docs, Slides and Design | Yes | Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise |
| Dashboards (beta) | No | Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise |
| Motion (beta) | No | Team and Enterprise |
Dashboards connects to business data and builds charts that show the query behind each one. Motion turns text, charts and images into editable animated explainers. Both are aimed at business use. Enterprise admins may need to enable templates. Anthropic says Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default for Enterprise on 15 October, but admins can enable them earlier.

How to use Docs, Slides or Design on Claude Free
If you do not see the templates on an individual Free, Pro or Max account, check Settings > Capabilities and make sure “Cloud code execution and file creation” is enabled. Team and Enterprise users may need their organization owner to switch it on. Then ask for a doc, slide deck or design in a chat, choose a template from the message box, or start from the Artifacts tab. Edit the result in Claude and export it when ready.
Give Claude the audience and purpose, not just the format. “Make a 10-slide college seminar deck on UPI fraud” gives it a clearer brief than “make a presentation.” Check the facts and figures before sharing or presenting what it produces.
These creations use your plan’s usual Claude limits. A Free account is enough to try a short assignment or a one-off deck; longer documents and repeated revisions use more of the available allowance. If you work on a Mac with a Touch Bar, we have also covered TokenBar, which puts AI usage at a glance.
Claude Design’s standalone site closes in December
The separate site at claude.ai/design remains available until 14 December 2026. Existing projects continue to work there until it closes, and Anthropic says more details on moving projects into Claude are coming. Design systems can be migrated from the Artifacts page. Standalone chats and project comments will not carry over, and public links to those projects will stop working after the closure.
If you use the standalone site, save anything important from its chats and comments before the deadline. The deadline does not affect new designs made in Claude’s regular chats or Artifacts tab.
