Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Phones in India: Should You Wait?

Qualcomm press render of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips

If you are shopping for a flagship phone above ₹60,000, it may be worth waiting a few weeks. The iQOO 16, Xiaomi 18 Pro and Motorola Signature 27 were presented as India-bound phones around India Mobile Congress 2026, but there is still no India price or sale date for any of them. If you need a phone now, these announcements are not a reason to delay a purchase under ₹50,000.

Which Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 phones are coming to India?

At IMC, the three models were paired with Qualcomm’s new flagship chips as follows. India prices and launch dates remain unannounced.

Qualcomm has two versions this year: the Extreme sits at the top, while the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is also a flagship platform. The company says the new chips bring performance and on-device AI improvements, but a processor name alone cannot tell us how a finished phone will perform. Cooling, battery capacity, software and the price matter just as much.

What we know about each phone

iQOO 16: the clearest India signal

iQOO’s India community says the iQOO 16 was shown at IMC and is coming to India. That makes it the most direct India signal of the three. We still need the local launch date, price, configurations and confirmation that the Indian model keeps the same chip and hardware as the China version.

Xiaomi 18 Pro: don’t convert the China price into an India estimate

Xiaomi’s official community lists the 18 Pro from CNY 5,999 in China and says the series is planned for global availability. That is useful background, not an India price: taxes, configuration and Xiaomi’s local pricing can change the final number. Xiaomi has not announced an India price or sale date for the 18 Pro.

The 18 Pro uses the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the larger 18 Pro Max uses the Extreme version. The India discussion at IMC centred on the 18 Pro, so do not assume the Max is part of the same India launch plan.

Motorola Signature 27: premium hardware, India details pending

Motorola’s own announcement confirms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main camera, a 200MP periscope camera and seven years of OS upgrades. It says the phone is expected in markets worldwide during 2026, but that does not confirm an India sale date or price.

Motorola says its 100x Super Zoom Pro uses generative AI, so that figure should not be read as 100x optical zoom. The seven-year update promise is a more concrete point for someone planning to keep a premium phone for a long time.

Should you wait for these phones?

If your budget is ₹60,000 or higher and your current phone can last a little longer, wait for Indian prices and final specifications before buying another flagship. The new chips are interesting, but we do not yet know whether the iQOO and Xiaomi models will keep their China configurations here, or what Motorola will charge.

If your phone is failing or your budget is below ₹50,000, there is no reason to wait just because of these announcements. Our best phones under ₹50,000 in India guide covers options you can buy now. If camera quality is the priority, compare those with our camera phone picks under ₹40,000.
